The Belle Epoque or the Golden Age also known as the Beautiful Era from 1871 to 1914 before the outbreak of WWI marked a period of economic prosperity and the zenith of technological and scientific innovations. It was during this time that the architectural feat — Eiffel Tower was built to as a grand entrance to the 1889 World’s Fair in Paris.

1900 welcomed the Exposition Universelle in Paris that showcased city’s updated architecture to housing, street layouts and green spaces. This period ushered in great technological advancements from automobile, scooter, moped, electric light, cinematography and motion pictures.

On life sciences, bacteriology flourished. Louis Pasteur developed pasteurisation and a rabies vaccine. Nobel Prize winner Marie Curie developed the theory of radioactivity, techniques for isolating radioactive isotopes and the discovery of new elements — polonium and radium.

Fourth Industrial Revolution

Similarly we are in the midst of another Golden Age called the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Exponential technologies such as the Internet of Things, AI, blockchain, advanced materials, advanced sensors, 3D printing and AR/VR/mixed reality, drones, autonomous technologies, robotics and biotechnologies are beginning to transform health and wellness. Moreover, that momentum will only accelerate as these technologies work together to accelerate the pace of innovation.

Narrow or weak AI is already active across industries and sectors.

Let me share a few case studies of how AI is changing healthcare and wellness.
