Today I am joined by Dr. Andy Kerr, Chief Strategy Officer, of EIT Climate-KIC, Europe’s largest climate innovation initiative, responsible for the group’s overarching strategy, its financial sustainability, and delivery of its global impact. 

EIT Climate-KIC implements a place-based ‘learning by doing’ innovation model that mobilises public and private finance and investment funds to implement and test suites (portfolios) of coordinated innovations, from financing models and governance to social behaviours, skills, and new technologies, so producing the actionable intelligence and scalable solutions needed for meeting ambitious climate targets. 

Andy has been in leadership roles in climate action over two decades. Previously, Andy was the founding director of the award-winning Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI), a leading low-carbon innovation centre, and Co-Director of ClimateXChange, Scotland’s Centre of Expertise on Climate Change to support policymakers. 

Earlier in his career, Andy traded carbon and green fuels in Europe and Asia and developed European renewable energy supply chains. Andy is an Honorary Professor at the University of Edinburgh and has a PhD in Climate Change.
