Today I am joined by Amali De Alwis, CEO at Subak, the world’s first global not-for-profit accelerator that scales climate impact through data, policy and behavior change. Prior to this she was Managing Director of Microsoft for Startups UK and CEO of Code First: Girls.
Outside of the day job, Amali is a Board member at Ada National College for Digital Skills, the Raspberry Pi Foundation, and Festival UK 2022. She was a founding member at Tech Talent Charter, was named as ‘The most Influential woman in UK IT’ by Computer Weekly, and was awarded an MBE in 2019 in the New Year’s Honours list for Services to Diversity and Training in the Tech Industry.
Subak is the world’s first global not-for-profit accelerator and data community that scales climate impact through data, policy and behavior change. Subak selects, funds and scales not-for-profit organizations that are tackling climate change through data. The community supports Subak members, fellows and other organizations to develop stronger environmental insights and opportunities to measure climate impact, and ultimately drive change in climate policy and public behavior.
Subak provides its members with up to £110k non-equity grant funding alongside structured business growth support, and its founding members have already raised over £8.5m in funding while delivering remarkable data-driven achievements. Individual Subak fellows can receive a £10k grant with an idea for an innovative, data-driven climate project. Fellows receive selected access to Subak support and learning resources. Subak is based at County Hall on the banks of the Thames alongside a growing hub of sustainable tech startups.
