Today I am joined by Dr. Angelica Kohlmann, Chairman and Co-founder of Bloom Diagnostics. Bloom Diagnostics is a medtech company that has developed a smart diagnostic device for a wide range of medical conditions. These include COVID-19 antibody test for professional use in the EU and ferritin at-home blood test.
She is also an investor into tech and biotech companies. Originally from Brazil and now based in Zurich, Switzerland, Dr Kohlmann began her distinguished career in cancer research, before joining the pharmaceutical industry as a global project manager. Later, she went into business for herself, first as an investor and eventually as the founder of Bloom Diagnostics, which recently closed a Series B funding round of US$10 million.
As a big friend of tech, but also an MD PhD, Angelica saw the big gap between healthcare and technology, and healthcare and people, and she understood the need to bring healthcare closer to people through new technologies. In order to achieve this vision, Angelica and her team at Bloom Diagnostics developed a system, which allows for people to measure and track blood markers from home, receiving instant personal feedback and recommendations. Customers are both, individuals interested in their health, as well as B2B partners offering health services, such as pharmacies.
