Covid-19 has impacted society to a massive degree, changing how we behave and even interact with each other. Gone are the days where you could meet others at an industry conference or dinner for networking. Today’s world has made in-person meetups as dangerous as walking through a minefield. However, many businesses require networking to keep functioning. With the economy’s current state being what it is, networking during the pandemic has become more of a necessity than an option.
During these troubled times, it may be possible to continue networking. The scope of your meetups will be different, and where you have it may also change significantly. However, it is possible to create meaningful connections, even though you can’t always meet someone else in person. Here, 14 professionals from Forbes Business Council share some tips on how to successfully network online or offline throughout the pandemic.
Be Authentic
People are craving for connection. The pandemic has highlighted a key human need to connect with others. That has translated into greater willingness to reach across tables, time zones and continents to connect with people that you don’t normally converse with. The best tip is to be authentic and ask to connect to get to know someone. Don’t make it transactional. Make it relational. – Scott Amyx, Astor Perkins
