To be specific, according to the Global Gender Gap Report 2020, it could take 257 years to close the gender gap. To put that in perspective, that’s nine to 13 generations before our descendants experience economic gender equality.

So are some countries and regions better than others? The study states that of 149 ranked countries, 101 nations improved their parity scores and 48 countries remained unchanged. By regions, Western Europe leads with 76.7% gender parity, followed by North America at 72.9% and Latin America and the Caribbean at 72.2%.

To influence minds and hearts, we can look to diverse research on gender equality that can give us insights about 1) the qualitative and quantitative performance of gender equality, 2) work-life balance, 3) self-fulling prophecy and 4) cultural acceptance to promote gender equality.
