Many consultants would have you believe all or nothing in embracing new technologies. But there’s a better approach. Ease into it.
In a typical product development agile session, you have the product owner, scrum master and development and design members. Consider breaking up the group into distinct tasks — some develop the schemas, others find analogs and others solve parts of the problem.
Each innovation activity should have a very specific set of tasks and deliverables. The process can be parallel as many innovation paths can be explored. The result will yield more creative outcomes.
Over time, add others into the process so that eventually, innovation becomes a company-wide process that employees can participate.
Once you’ve ironed out the process and the stakeholders believe that it is an improvement from status quo, then begin to consider which phases can be crowdsourced further internally and even possibly externally.
And if you have managed to build up a robust crowdsource process that consistently produces better than expected results, then consider adding AI automation to scale. By then, you would have built up enough wins to garner sponsor support and project funding.
