The 10 Year Outlook

10 Year Outlook

Before all this online social media craze, offline businesses had a magic number — 10 years. Whether you were a CPA, attorney, insurance agent, real estate agent or a contractor, it took a good 10 years for your business to really flourish. The first several years you’re hustling, networking, cold calling but by year 7 or 8, the referrals began to come in. And as you hit that 10 year mark, your business is doing quite well.

So you’re probably thinking what does that have to do with my online presence and my personal brand, right? 10 years is not a hard and fast rule but rather it’s about your mindset and your level of commitment. Gary Vayner-chuk started vlogging in 2006 and he never stopped. That’s 13 years. But that story is not unique to Gary. If you study most successful YouTubers, celebrities or anyone that you look up to, the reality is that they have been chipping away for close to 10 years or more.

As you think about your personal brand, if you’re not committed to consistently developing your personal brand with a 10 year outlook, you’re chances of making it becomes very low. Commit to your success. And quality with come with consistency.
