The transition from cloud to edge computing will take time and there will be many technical challenges to overcome but the future of edge computing alongside cloud computing isn’t that far off.
The mix of cloud & edge computing will eventually swing to edge computing for reasons of faster local processing, no latency issues, improved security and privacy and lower cost structure.
Moreover, in the world of IoT, we simply cannot interact with every single device. We need an abstraction layer that acts as our intermediary to orchestrate workflows and processes that coordinate smart things around us. And in this new world, we will be conversing with our AI intermediary and conveying commands through our speech and thoughts. The future is not 25 years away. It’s already happening.
