Today I am joined by Joshua Motta who is the CEO of Coalition, a cyber insurance and security startup that helps businesses manage and mitigate cyber risk. The Series C startup has raised a total of $140M in funding.
He is a technology innovator and entrepreneur with experience in both the public and private sectors. Prior to Coalition, Motta was instrumental in the founding and growth of Cloudflare, a privately held $2 billion security company, where he was the CxO and head of special projects. Cloudflare has been recognized as the most innovative networking and internet technology company for two years running by the Wall Street Journal and has been recognized as a technology pioneer by the World Economic Forum.
Before Cloudflare, Motta spent more than five years as an investor, quant and adviser in the hedge fund, private equity and banking sectors, including positions within Goldman Sachs’ London-based investment banking team and at Francisco Partners, a $10 billion global private equity firm focused on technology.
Motta has a deep mathematical and technical background, having worked in various capacities at the Central Intelligence Agency, Honeywell and Sprint. He began his career at Microsoft, where he was the company’s youngest hire.
Motta holds an A.B. degree from the University of Chicago, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
