Today I am joined by Dr. Yi Chao, CEO and founder of Seatrec, a company working to monitor, understand, and ultimately protect the ocean and its health.
Yi received his Ph.D. in Atmospheric and Oceanic Sciences from Princeton University in 1985 and conducted his postdoctoral research at UCLA. He spent 18 years at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory where he pioneered the use of satellites for studying the ocean and led the team that developed technology to harvest clean energy from the ocean’s natural temperature differences. Yi founded Seatrec in 2016 to commercialize the renewable-energy technology that he developed while at NASA’s JPL.
