Interview with Scott Hamm and Kipp Tribble, Film Directors, Producers and Actor

Today I am joined by Scott Hamm and Kipp Tribble, directors, producers and actors of the movie ‘The Stay’.

Scott Hamm guest starred in television roles, 6 film roles, 2 recurring roles on soaps and has been a series regular.

After a few years working on stage, Kipp Trbble launched his film career when he wrote, directed, produced and starred in the micro-budget action drama, SUGAR CAIN, which was picked up by Artist View Entertainment for worldwide distribution. After the success of his first feature, he next produced and acted in the action thriller, MOVING TARGETS, which enjoyed success in Blockbuster Video and on premium cable outlets, as well as internationally. Kipp then became one of the first filmmakers ever to work with the 24p High Definition format on the romantic comedy, UP, MICHIGAN!, which he also co wrote, produced and starred in. After another stint in the theatre, he returned to film by starring in, co-writing and producing the character drama, RUNNING SPRINGS, which secured a deal with a new company at the time called Netflix. His producing credits over the next few years included feature films such as THE WAITERS, SAFEHOUSE, STILL WATERS, and BACHELOR PARTY MASSACRE.

In 2011, Kipp went back to his multi-hyphenate roots when he wrote, produced, co-directed, and starred in COFFIN, a contained thriller starring international star Kevin Sorbo and Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe & Emmy winner, Bruce Davison. The film finished in the Weekly Top 20 Rentals at Redbox for the week it was released (2012) in the U.S., and went on to gain a large cult following worldwide.

Kipp next produced the multiple award-winning short, CURIO SHOP: A POST-APOCALYPTIC ACID WESTERN, and THE MAN FROM WAILING RIVER, a short based on a novel by acclaimed western novelist, Luke Short. He also expanded internationally by serving as Executive Producer on the WWII film, MIASTO ’44 (aka, WARSAW ’44), the #2 most profitable Polish-language film at the 2014 Polish box office. The film was honored with several wins and multiple nominations at the 2015 Polish Film Awards, including a Best Picture nomination.

2017 – 2018 was a busy stretch, seeing two of Kipp’s films debut in Redox and across all major VOD platforms. His sci-fi thriller, THE LOST DAY (aka, CHRONOLOGY), filmed in Poland and South Carolina, released across the U.S. through Redbox in late 2018, with VOD coming weeks later. He co-directed from the script he penned, and he also produced. He stars in the film alongside William Baldwin, Danny Trejo and John James. Just a year prior, Kipp had returned to Redox when he wrote, directed, produced and reprised his role in COFFIN 2, the sequel to his indie hit. The film was released on DVD and VOD in 2018, including iTunes, GooglePlay, YouTube Movies, FandangoNOW, Amazon Prime, Best Buy, Barnes & Noble, and many more. And if that wasn’t enough, THE UNWILLING, a horror feature on which Kipp served as Co-Executive Producer, was also released in 2018 through Vision Films. The film stars Lance Henriksen, Dina Myer, David Lipper and Jake Thomas, and was written and directed by Academy Award nominee, Jonathan Heap.

In 2019, Kipp enjoyed a very successful VOD release of his film, CHAR MAN, a found footage horror film centered around the Ojai, California urban legend, which he starred in, wrote, co directed, produced and edited. The film was also put into the series development pipeline at Warner Brothers. Currently, he has several projects in the works or ready for release: THE STAY, a film in which he acts, produced and co-wrote with Scott Hamm, releases in March 2021; REBOOT CAMP (actor, producer) releases in May 2021); EVIL AT THE DOOR (actor, director, writer, producer, editor) releasing in 2021; CONFINED (actor, producer, story by, editor) releasing in 2021; DEATH LINK (actor, producer) releasing in 2021; WOLF MOUNTAIN (actor, producer) currently in post and releasing in 2021; WILL YOU BE MY QUARANTINE? (actor, producer) currently in post and releasing in 2021); LOBO (actor, director, writer, producer) currently in post and release TBD); and COFFIN 3 is in active development. His company, MRP Entertainment, also launched a distribution arm in 2018 to handle specialty indie films. They released PEACH PLUM PEAR in March of 2019, an indie drama that stars Alanna Masterson (“The Walking Dead”), Tyler Blackburn (“Pretty Little Liars”) and Mackenzie Phillips (“One Day at a Time”, “Orange is the New Black”).
